Former Humberside Police detective constable Paul Clayton, 45, has been jailed for five years for having sex with a mum in front of her ten-year-old daughter and inciting the woman to send him indecent photos of the girl.
The 43-year-old mum, who is not being identified to protect her daughter’s anonymity, pleaded guilty to two charges of distributing two photos of her child to Clayton, facilitating him having sexual activity and engaging in sexual activity with him in the presence of her child. She was jailed for 29 months.
Clayton also exchanged perverted messages with a 14-year-old girl and had sexual activity with a child as he gave her a massage.
Bristol Crown Court heard police investigating a separate child exploitation case came across Clayton exchanging messages with an offender online and established a series of offences relating to him. They included downloading child abuse images and he was arrested.
Clayton, of Anlaby in East Yorkshire, pleaded guilty to encouraging or assisting an offence to be committed, downloading and possessing child abuse images, sexual communication with a child, causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, sexual activity with a child and engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child.
Both defendants were put on the Sex Offenders Register, given Sexual Harm Prevention Orders and were barred from working with children and vulnerable adults.
Judge Martin Picton was told Clayton’s co-defendant sent inappropriate photos of her child to Clayton and engaged in sexual activity with him in the presence of her child. He was also told Clayton had improper online conversations with a girl aged 14 online and had sexual activity with a younger girl in the form of a massage.
As he sentenced them, the judge said: “These are really serious offences. The harm on the victims will be life-long.”
