Tesco packer Marcin Zdun, 40, of Wessex Road, Salisbury, Wiltshire, was jailed for life at Winchester Crown Court today and told he must serve a minimum of 34 years for murdering his 40-year-old wife Aneta Zdun and their 18-year-old daughter Nikoleta at their home in Wessex Road, Salisbury, in the summer.
Zdun, a “violent and alcoholic bully” had admitted stabbing them both to death but denied murdering them. They were found dead on June 1st.

Nikoleta had messaged her mum days before the attack – “I don’t want him to kill us, he’s a psycho,” and the court heard the ‘control freak’ killed his terrified family in a rage after he became convinced both his wife and daughter had become sexually involved with a man at Tesco where he worked, because of the way the man had looked at him.
Zdun’s violent nature increased when drunk, forcing him to apologise for his drunken aggressive behaviour in a Facebook post, the court heard.
Prosecutor Nicholas Haggan QC, said Zdun “strangled” his wife in their kitchen in the days before the murders, which he had denied, claiming that he only “shook her a bit on the floor.”

Zdun agreed to move out when his wife threatened to contact the police over the incident but the “shame” of the loss of control of his family triggered the rage that led to the murders, Mr Haggan added.

On the morning of June 1st he walked through Salisbury to the house and stabbed them both with a knife. He then attempted to flea the area but was tackled to the ground by workmen working nearby. They held on to him until police arrived to arrest him.

Following the sentencing, Det Supt Darren Hannant said: “Marcin Zdun carried out this awful, vicious, premeditated attack on his wife and daughter in broad daylight in front of witnesses and his two younger daughters.

“I was never in no doubt that this was a deliberate killing of both women and that he was focused on this attack before he arrived at the family home that day.
“Zdun refused to speak about what happened when questioned and at no stage since his arrest has he shown any remorse for these horrible crimes.

“This is a very unusual and extreme case of domestic abuse for which there were few warning signs. Aneta and Nikoleta were very close and had discussed their concerns about Zdun with each other but there was little knowledge of the abusive relationship outside of the family.

“This extreme act of violence being committed on a sunny afternoon in clear view was a really traumatic event for those involved.”

Police and Crime Commissioner for Swindon and Wiltshire, Angus Macpherson, said:”This terrible incident understandably caused a huge amount of shock and sadness amongst this local, close community in Salisbury.
“I hope today’s sentencing can give the family, friends and neighbours of the two victims some solace and closure in what has been a tragic incident.”
